Iowa Adjuster Licensing FAQs

  • How do I get an Iowa adjuster license?

Starting on July 1, 2025, Iowa began requiring insurance adjusters to be licensed. To get your Iowa license, you will need to pass their state exam. This includes adjusters already licensed in other states.

We have compiled all available information in our New Iowa Insurance Adjuster License blog article.

    Key points:

    • To get an Iowa adjuster license, you will need to pass the Iowa adjuster exam.
    • Iowa will not offer reciprocal licenses to out-of-state adjusters. Licensed adjusters should review the blog to see the waiver and modified process deadlines for working claims until they obtain an Iowa license.
    • AdjusterPro’s Iowa Insurance Adjuster Course is ready and will prepare you for the Iowa exam. The content was created based on the state’s new exam outline.
  • What are the continuing education and renewal requirements for Iowa Adjusters?

Iowa adjusters are required to complete a minimum of 24 credits of continued education, including two hours of ethics, during each two-year license term.

Adjusters who maintain a valid email address with the Iowa Insurance Division will receive a courtesy renewal reminder approximately 60 days before their license expires.  Within 60 days of license expiration, all resident and non-resident adjusters should complete the renewal application and submit the renewal fee through the NIPR online system

Resident and non-resident adjusters must comply with continuing education requirements before renewal and must submit any additional documents requested by the Division.

  • How to check your Adjuster License CE Transcript

Need to know how many hours of CE you’ve accumulated or have left? Or perhaps you want to check on the last time you took “Course XYZ” to ensure you can take it again during this compliance cycle. Checking your transcripts is relatively easy these days. (Thankfully!) Your hours are submitted to your state’s preferred database where you can check them anytime. Just remember you’ll need to create an account and load your license details first.

Here’s a list of where you can view your CE transcript. Just click on the linked title to navigate to the correct site for your state.
